One of the off-shoots of the Community Band is the
Honeoye Falls Community Big Band . This 17-piece group was started by Honeoye Falls
resident and parent, Fred Sturm in the Spring of 1996. The original purpose was to
hold a benefit concert to raise funds for the HF-L High School Jazz Ensemble's first trip
to New York City's Lincoln Center.
Since then, the Big Band, under the current direction of Mark Borden, has performed three
to four times a year. Typical repertoire includes Glenn Miller, Duke
Ellington, Benny Goodman, Cole Porter, Horace Silver and more. Highlights
include performances at the annual Honeoye Falls village celebration, Festival On
The Green; the summer series Music and Movies sponsored by the Honeoye Falls Chamber of
Commerce; and a recent gig at the Wings Of Eagles Airshow in Elmira.
If you would like to be considered for the H.F.C. Big Band sub list, please contact Mark
Borden at 624-3607.
